Introduction phase of a GAPS diet: Elimination.

The full GAPS diet can last for up to 2 years. During the maintenance phase mental health sufferers are advised to keep to a diet of foods such as:
Fresh hormone-free and grass-fed meat.
Animal fats such as lard, duck fat, lamb fat and ghee or raw butter.
Vegetables and mushrooms.
Foods fermented in vinegar or probiotic yoghurts.
Followers of a diet of a gut and Psychology syndrome regime may also introduce nuts and nut flours and oil. There is also a number of additional recommendations included in the foods that are combined:
Bone broth with every meal.

All these contain the essential supplement of vitamin D.
Probiotics are added to a GAPS diet to help restore the balance of the beneficial bacteria in the guts. It is recommended that you use a probiotic yoghurt that contains: Bifidobacteria; Lactobacilli and; Bacillus Subtilis varieties. You are advised to look into the products that contain in the region of at least 8 billion bacterial cells per gram.
These nutrients are essential if you have a gut and Psychology syndrome that involves low stomach acidity production. A remedy for this is suggested as taking the supplement of Betaine HCI with added Pepsin before each meal.
